How to Receive Salvation

Salvation is a gracious gift from God. The definition of "grace" is "unmerited divine assistance given humans for their regeneration or sanctification". In other words, it is a gift given to someone that has done nothing to deserve it. We as humans, are sinful and deserve nothing short of death.

According to Romans 3:23 (KJV) "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"

The penalty for sin is death according to Romans 6:23 (KJV)

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord"

The great news is that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and then arose on the third day. We have the opportunity right here and now, to accept the gift of salvation and enjoy eternal life in heaven when we die.

According to Romans 5:8 (KJV) "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us"

Through faith, we can accept salvation.

According to Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation"

There is no restriction to who can receive salvation. No matter what your sex, race, age, income level, you can receive salvation.

According to Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" There is no other way to heaven. You cannot perform good "works", rely on someone else's beliefs, nor buy your way into heaven.

The only way to heaven, is through Jesus, according to John 4:6 (KJV)

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me"

Jesus has told us to be at peace and believe in God. He promises to return after he has prepared your place in heaven, according to John 4:1-4 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know."

Christ desires for you to be successful in your Christian walk. That being said, he does not promise that you will become rich, famous, or invicible. He promises to be with you every step of your life and to protect you from the fire and brimstone of hell.

Christ gives us strength according to Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." We all will have times of sorrow and times of trial and difficulty in our life, but there is hope and peace in knowing that Jesus died for you and has given the opporunity to know God Almighty.

A couple verses that have given me hope and encouragement in times of trial are Psalm 18:2-3 "The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies."
